Uniswap V3 Dashboard Debrief #3: Swap Volume Stats 🦄 🔄

Welcome to the third edition of the Uniswap Dashboard Debrief! All this week, we’ll be taking a closer look at the data behind Uniswap V3 as we work to build the world’s best dashboard. You can join us, and earn $500 in UNI, by contributing a question that makes it to our dashboard. Just join us on Discord to get started! Today’s topic? Uniswap V3 swap volume.

So far, we’ve taken a closer look at Uniswap V3’s pools, along with its total value locked (TVL) and virtual liquidity levels

As we saw then, there’s plenty going on even during the first few weeks of Uniswap V3. Uniswap V3 TVL hit its current all-time high at roughly midday Eastern Time in the U.S. on Friday, May 14, as total liquidity topped 1 billion at 11 AM and remained over that milestone for roughly 2 hours before settling at between 800 million and 1 billion. That liquidity was bringing in some good money for a few big fee takers, with the highest earners taking in more than $3.5 million in fees within the first few days of the updated platform’s rollout.

Now it’s time to get a bit more granular when it comes to Uniswap activity. When are all these swaps taking place? Which pools are seeing the most activity?

Flipside Crypto’s labeled-on chain data can tell us.

We’ll start by answering when Uniswap swappers are most active on V3.

According to Flipside Crypto’s community-enabled analytics, the current all-time high came during the evening of May 12, at roughly 6 P.M. Eastern Time. Swap volume held at more than $200 million at that time, and remained above $150 million for roughly five hours before it fell sharply.

This week, however, the preferred trading time for Uniswap V3 users seems to be coming earlier in the day — specifically at midday. Lunchtime swaps seem to be the flavor of the week, as daily swap volume peaked in the early-to-mid afternoon, Eastern Time, on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

So, when users do decide to take a lunchtime dip into one of the Uniswap V3 pools, which do they tend to favor?

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the recent dog-coin craze gripping the crypto community, Uniswap’s SHIB-WETH 3000-60 pool has led the way so far, with more than $2.2 billion in total swap volume so far. Another ETH pool, specifically the WETH-USDT3000-60  pool, joins it at more than $2 billion in volume.
